Our Beginning
Chanel's Version​
While frolicking through the crowd, of hundreds of people at StonyBrook's Homecoming tailgate party, we somehow locked eyes (he basically was caught staring at me)so I quickly turned around because *weird* and we went about our conversations. Less than 5 minutes later, he was in front of me telling a joke that I somehow can't remember but there was a spark that stuck with me. He had an aura that made me shield him from the interrogation of my over-protective sorority sisters. After more laughter, a brief introduction, and being "all over the place" we exchanged numbers. A day or two went by before he reached out by text and after short conversation, I shamelessly responded "I thought you weren't going to text me". I was looking forward to speaking & seeing him again.

Alright, so let me tell yall the real story about how we met. As everyone knows, I pull up to Stony Brook homecoming with my friend to have a time, nothing too crazy. Long story short, we end up on the field/lot where the tailgate spilled over into. Now I caught shorty staring once, but I thought we just locked eyes as a coincidence. So I got about my business and then double back, and who's looking at me? CHANEL. Me being the person I am, I'm like let me see what's good. Step to her and made her laugh deflecting her hating friend. She been under the wing like fried rice ever since.

Our First (real) Date
Our Engagement
From our first date on, we spent everyday either seeing or talking to each other.
On March 13, 2017 after watching Kevin innocently and happily interact in a room, Chanel told him that she wasn't going to be his friend forever. He immediately told her that they didn't have to be just friends & asked her to be his girlfriend.
On March 17, 2023, right at the end of Chanel's prefaced "you have 5 years" warning, Kevin popped the question in a candle-lit light filled room on Roosevelt Island. After, she was surprised by the love of family and friends a the Panorama Room.

Our journey together was and will be led by God, with Him at the center of our home and hearts.
